At Medallion Transport & Logistics, partnerships are about more than moving freight—they’re about moving purpose forward. That’s why we’re proud to recognize our long-time agent, Freedom Transport, for their role as a preferred carrier for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, supporting initiatives that honor our nation’s heroes.

Carrying a Powerful Symbol Across America

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, and with it comes a deeply meaningful tribute: the Steel Across America Tour.

Beginning in May and concluding on September 11, a 20-foot piece of steel from the World Trade Center is being transported across the country, making 36 stops along the way. At each location, communities will gather to reflect, remember, and stand united in honoring those we lost and the heroes who emerged.

Freedom Transport, backed by the Medallion network, is helping make this journey possible by providing professional drivers and specialized equipment to safely carry this historic piece across thousands of miles.

We are honored to play a part in ensuring this symbol of resilience and remembrance reaches communities nationwide.

The Legacy Behind Tunnel to Towers

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is rooted in the extraordinary life and sacrifice of Firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller.

Stephen was the youngest of seven children, and after losing both parents at a young age, he was raised by his siblings. Despite early hardships, he grew into a dedicated firefighter and a man guided by compassion, service, and a deep sense of duty.

On September 11, 2001, after finishing his shift, Stephen was on his way to spend time with his family when he learned of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Without hesitation, he turned back to serve.

When he reached the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and found it closed, Stephen strapped on 60 pounds of gear and ran on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers. He ultimately gave his life while saving others.

Stephen left behind a loving wife, five children, and a legacy that continues to inspire millions. Guided by the words of St. Francis of Assisi—“While we have time, let us do good”—Stephen lived a life of purpose, courage, and selflessness.

A Mission That Moves Us All

Today, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation continues that legacy by supporting first responders, military heroes, and their families.

Through initiatives like the Steel Across America Tour, the Foundation brings people together—not just to remember, but to carry forward the spirit of unity, service, and sacrifice that defines our nation at its best.

As author Jay Price once wrote, “None bigger than Stephen Siller, whose stature only grows with time as New Yorkers and people from around the world follow his footsteps.”

Proud to Support the Journey
