Operation Safe Driver week, an annual week-long enforcement and educational campaign targeting unsafe driving by passenger and commercial drivers, will take place July 7-13. This year’s focus is on reckless, careless or dangerous driving.
The focus is defined as “operating a vehicle without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for other motorists or people on the road.” The blitz will see an increase of patrols targeting both commercial vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers.
During this enforcement safety blitz, law enforcement personnel throughout North America – US, Canada and Mexico – will be looking for commercial motor vehicle drivers who are engaging in unsafe driving behaviors on the roadways such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, drunk or drugged driving, and more. Identified drivers will be pulled over by law enforcement and may be issued a warning or citation.
According to CVSA, careless or dangerous driving is defined as operating a vehicle without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for other motorists or people on the road.
