As of Monday, March 11 at 6 a.m., weight restrictions will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways from the Michigan/Indiana and Michigan/Ohio state lines north to and including:
- M-20 from the intersections of US-31 in Oceana County east to US-131 in Mecosta County
- North on US-131 on M-20
- East on M-20 to US-127 in Isabella County
- North on US-127 to M-61 in Clare County
- East on M-61 to the intersection of US-23 in the city of Standish, Arenac County
Roads that have been frozen during the winter, especially because of the numerous freeze-thaw cycles this winter, can soften during the spring thaw. This also contributes to problems with potholes.
Click here for a map of seasonal weight restrictions in effect throughout the state, organized by county.
Routes which are designated as “all season” are in green and have no reduction in legal axle weights.
Routes which are designated as “seasonal” are in red and have weight reductions of up to 35 percent. Each county with restrictions links to a more specific map with info on weight restricted roads and bridges.
