The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) overweight and over-dimensional permits office has eliminated three-hour and afternoon curfews for over-dimension permit loads of most sizes, and reduced the curfews to two-hours for the largest roads.Tennessee DOT Changes to Permit Travel Hour Restrictions

The department released a memo on June 7, which stated there will be no movement of vehicles exceeding 12’6″ wide, 15′ high or 90′ long on the interstate system of highways from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m., and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in five counties; Davidson, Hamilton, Shelby, Knox and Rutherford.

If a load is below 12’6″ wide, 15′ high or 90′ long, continuous movement is allowed and there are no restrictions to curfew hours.

The memo also said mobile homes, site-built houses and house boats will continue to observe curfew travel restrictions hours regardless of height, width and lenght.
